I guarantee you research the pronunciation on any dictionary site online that has the option to hear the word sounded out or to Youtube and you will not find a single case where the g is silent.

What you did was fine. I substitute "n" for "and" all the time so "back round" was never an issue for me.

However I can say definitively that the "g" in background is not silent such as "lasagna".

Any deviation from this would either be slang or regional dialect in pronunciation. But it doesn't change the fact that it's "back" "ground". I have no idea why you are saying "backuh". Lol. Well if I try n make the g emphasized like the dictionary says it is, then I can't just say background or it sounds like backround, because the ck drowns out the G.

you can faintly hear it saying it normal, but To make the G emphasized it must be split into two words.
