I don't know why people aren't excited for the diversity in hip-hop music I mean you didn't really think that the genre was going to stay the same. it doesn't work like thatbwith any genre! theres always going to be people who aren't afraid to push boundaries and branch out from the genre.
To hate on people that do that and be successfull doing that is really asinine to me.
I don't think anybody can listen to take care and so far gone and say there bad projects.
and truth is he is really all about the music not the media you see him on k.o.d showing you he really cares still for the hard in your face hip hop style. just because his singles aren't always the most hardest bars you ever heard doesn't mean you should label him as a untalented musician.

thats not a valid arguement, if your a rapper you rap and should have the best bars out of other rappers. if he is a singer he should sing...its that simple

he is nother, he is a pop artist which is a joke imo and he could never be classified as a rapper by me nor none of the people i know would consider him a rapper

he is hip hops britney spears along with most of cash money

Jeeze GoW!

I had no idea you felt so strongly about Drake lol

But seriously, bars are legit. And if we're trying to get into "hardcore" rap/hip-hop, I don't think Sugarhill Gang, Fab 5 Freddy, Grand Master Flash, etc... Were all that about "bars this, hardcore that, EVERYONE IS GAY!!!" Straight up, it's all hip-hop! If we're really trying to have this argument, this all started from jazz, blues, and even rock singers/performers before there was anything about bars. From there, EVOLUTION took place and different sub-genres of music evolved! Lets not forget, rap is something that's derived out of the "Disco" era of music. Then came Blondie with "Rapture" which is a culmination of singing and rapping by Debbie Harry. Granted its not the best example of rap/singing, it is also the first time hip-hop was introduced outside of its own subculture. Plus Fab 5 Freddy and Grandmaster Flash were given a shout outs!

Then don't get me started on The Fugees who not only represented everything that hip-hop is, but they're pioneers in introducing singing into rap records. Actually, I'm sure there was someone else, I'm just not remembering at the moment. But not only did the Fugees do it, but they did it right and brought it to the mainstream. Has anyone else listened to "The Score" or "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" besides me? Two great hip-hop records and Lauryn Hill's was the first rap record to win album of the year. And don't get me started on Andre 3000, or anyone from Outkast, Goodie Mobb or Dungeon Family... The Roots??? All these hip-hop artists SANG ON THEIR RECORDS!!

GoW I hate arguing with you cuz you my dawg, but singing has ALWAYS been apart of hip-hop from the beginning, yet it's evolved my dawg. And Drake, who is a rapper, is apart of that evolution. Just look at the facts.

saying your a hip hop artist is different from saying your a rap artist ,,rap is a area inside hip hop as is rnb etc etc

TBH, I think Drake has talent and has the ability to rap.

However, its hidden behind every pussy ass shit song and lame gimmicky lyric he spits now. If he talks tough, he isn't about the life he's talking. He's soft and so when he spits tough bars its a joke. He should stick to how he was in the beginning of his career.

In the beginning though, they all represented rap and hip-hop. And what about Dre 3 stacks. No one can EVER tell me dudes not a beast with rapping and singing. Probably one of the best and most influential artists in the game!

Dude, there's so much limitation to that. Drakes a rapper. Or how about this, he's an MC. So is Zack de la Rocha, and he sings and raps but is mostly know for his vocals on Rage Against the Machine records but still raps and calls himself an MC, which I dunno, is the same in some sense. Not everything's black and white. At least not to me

Drake decent tbh. he overrated and most of his songs are tough guy acts and ballads for broads. I'm 17 and Drake soft to me. He don't deserve any awards he has and he's lucky to pioneer this bubblegum rap cause if he came out in the 90s w/ this stuff, he'd be more of a laughing stock than he is now & i think only broads and broad minded niggas can relate to Drake
