I however, don't know how to fix a thing, nor do I have the drive to learn. I have to apply to colleges as of now but I feel like wherever I end up I'll find a dead end. I've heard college is a waist of time but at this point I don't know what else I could possibly do.
I am a philosophy major. Everyone should take at least one philosophy course imo.

But on this topic I gotta lot to say about but I don't feel like typing it all out.

look into americorps. trade schools are always options, as the article suggested. so is the military - I know a lot of people who enlisted in the coast guard and had a great experience. culinary/massage schools have a high yield of job placement for the most part, too. there's a lot more options out there than college.

I really don't recommend going to college unless you have a specific direction/goal you're working towards. it won't be a waste of time necessarily, but it will most likely be a huge waste of money. if anything, try to knock out credits at a local community college or something.

I took a couple philosophy classes. They were great; I barely touched the readings and never went to class but got A's on papers because I could construct logical arguments with eloquence and a modicum of original thought. If you're a good essay writer, I highly recommend philosophy classes as electives.

But majoring in it is silly.

Philosophy is irrelevant to the truth.

You need 7,500 ( about 3 and a 1/2 years of 40 hour weeks ) logged hours as a apprentice to test for journeyman plus a certified back flow prevention class which is like 32 hours but you need to hold your apprenticeship license for four years

Then you need 3,700 hours ( almost 2 years of 40 hour weeks ) as a journeyman plus redo the backflow classes to test for masters ... All tests are written and state codes are sometimes hard to follow because they can change without much notice

Plumbing is easy ... It's a mix of basic chemistry, math and common sense but it's no pun intended shitty work...

This hit close to home because I never knew how to do shit either, I spent my youth playing sports, doing well in school and getting bent when I could.

I was a revered baseball player and went to college in hopes of doing that for a living ( studied early childhood development as a backup ) was also a pretty good wrestler but I didn't have the passion for that like I did baseball... But I fucked up my shoulder and knee and then I knew how much simple shit I didn't know how to do like change oil in a car etc ... I went to college to play baseball and that was the wrong thing because once I couldn't play I lost any motivation I had.

But you need to keep an open mind, go to college because you want to not because you feel you need to and start little by little learning new things you might find a love you never knew
