No, there's a critical movement that says B.O.B signifies the incoming internet revolution. A legitimate one. It's weird. Pitchfork is weird. Critics are weird.

Pitchfork named "B.O.B." the best song of the 2000s. The most-shouted part of the song is Andre 3000 screaming "ONE NINE NINE NINE." He screamed that because the song was about 1999.

Pitchfork is weird.

I'm reslistening to 'Stan' on repeat for a nostalgia trip and can't believe this was a hit. You don't hear something like this anymore. He captures his own self and the zeitgeist of the time and his own self awareness so perfectly. I was a rap obsessed white kid back in the day. I heart'ed OutKast, and respected them more than anything justvtrying to be cool. And they're still my go to rap. But Eminem was a gateway, arguably the strongest mainstream lyricist in his prime. And he captured everything about his paradigm in a half third person song and made it a fucking chart topper/

I think Busta Rhymes called "A Milli" the best beat he'd ever heard.

I always loved aquemini, as both a song and album. Em's genius is oft forgotten in light of his recent settlement of sober mediocrity. Dmx isn't getting mentioned in this thread, and that's a shame. Amg>pitchfork all day every day.

That is all.

I like outkast, never really loved them though. Never heard a song of theirs I didn't like though. Also, play Roses in any bar in America and people will start moving their feet.

Now back to DMX. Heavily underrated. Discuss.

"Roses" might be the worst single OutKast ever released. It's not horrible, but it's not up to their normal standards.

DMX was good in the late-1990s, then he let himself become a complete caricature as the Ruff Ryders started to blow up. It's Dark and Hell is Hot is very good, but he got a little worse with each successive album.

@Certain I liked it better than hey ya personally, but most critics tend to laude hey ya as one of their most phenomenal songs so idk.

As for dmx, I agree with you. It's not that his albums got worse, it's that they never changed. He released rehashed versions of the same album over and over. Still yet, X was the shit.

I think he played up the yelling and (especially and painfully) the barking and dumbed down his lyrics.
