I’m usually right on grammar issues without even really knowing why

Usually though, the best way is to just think how you’d say it. In that case, you’d pause before “cold,” but not “hands.”

Yeah I was thinking the first way you had it was like cold hands and dead being a modifier to cold but it’s actually two modifiers to hands
