My brother was a Satanist but didn't graduate to sacrificing animals or the like but he's never really had too much shit happen in his life except for the stupid shit he brought upon himself. He's finally doing something productive in life now going to school for Psychology (he's a nut himself) working full time and doing his hobbies and taking care of his daughter and wife.
