the dragons dead tho, and the night king can control the dead

the mad king, (aerys, dany and rhaegars pops) was killed by jamie lannister, hence the kingslayer title.

jons dad rhaegar, was leading the kings forces in battle against robert baratheon at the trident. they met head to head in the middle of the river, and robert baratheon smashed his chestplate in with his warhammer killing him, and winning the battle.

after the battle, ned went to lyanna and found out rhaegar knocked her up, and you see that scene with the kingsguard and him getting jon

but ned raced to kings landing somewhere in that timeline and found jamie lannister sitting on the iron throne with the king (aerys) dead, and the city opened to the lannisters.

but yea rhaegar got murked, had a funeral etc. he's dead dead.

the night king could be targaryen, but it makes no sense because when he was created there were no targaryens in westeros. it was all the "first men", it was even prior to the andal invasions. the first men prayed to the trees with faces, and the andals brought the religion of the 7, that the high sparrow and them recognise in the south and such

but word, the starks were among the first men, so it only makes sense he was a stark if anything
