I used to feel like that when i first found rap too tbh

I was so enthralled and intrigued with the writing and storytelling rarely did a beat matter to me

Nearly 20 years later ive heard everything they have to say...to an extent....so the beats are what really keep my attention anymore....especially seeing certain rappers approaches to different melodies and breaks

Honestly .....if the beat is even mildly mediocre at this stage that songs gettin cut the fuck off i dont care if they spit the meaning of life.
