I once wrote an obscene "character journal" assignment in seventh grade under the correct assumption that the character I was assigned would be similarly obscene. I got in trouble at first but made a well-reasoned point to the principal that the teacher was not qualified if she honestly felt from reading our book that the character would not curse. I had detention for one day.
