by your logic, if the tiger is only 30 ft away when he starts charging u, it's easier to hit him. but at one point the lion in the vid WAS only 30 ft away. and they didn't hit him hard enough during the time he needed to run the 30 ft directly up to them. as a matter of fact, they didn't even hit him during the time he needed to close a distance of more than a 100 ft.
they were using rifles

there is a reason the military carries pistols and other close combat weapons, at a certain range its just inefficient to try using a long rifle
