Chapter One: Line in the Sand
“Silence has a sound…” – Muhammad Imran Hasan …… I struck quick as lightning above, that’s what thunder demands How could I trudge across sand when there’s blood on my hands? He used underhanded tactics, it was too late to discover his plan The rules were clear: One man can live when the other can’t stand I did at least double the damage, but this trip’ll be the death of me The anguish ahead of me can’t begin until I vanquish this enemy Kept my breathing slow and steady, conserving my energy This dead weight I’m attached to has purposely tethered me He’s certainly heavy (I think), it seems he serves as a remedy My curious weapon leaks, I believe his blood turns to a recipe Burn his skin for my meat, this beach certainly is discreet The wind shifted due East as the birds all fled from the trees Guess Heaven just sneezed; The path I-choose knows no bounds Pebbles cutting my feet? Having shoes would just slow me down Plasma soaked the ground, I failed to extract one nail I used No one follows in your footsteps when a blood trail will do Entrails consumed; Mmm, I sure wish I stashed some food But our epic battle proved I’d hear his death rattle soon The sky darkened fast, I hearkened back to my passive youth We put on acts to fool the masses, staying still like statues too People gasped, we’d all laugh when we broke the news Who could assume years later it would be my go-to move? So I remove the nail from my thumb, plant my foot in the mud Yanked my tattered shirt free… then I shook and got up The man was stunned, “I thought you were dead” he loudly uttered I plunged the nail through his head, in one side and out the other Started drinking his blood, his body of water dripping a bit He quivered and spit, he was taken a back like an Indian gives But I thanked him for dragging me along on this quick little trip Cuz I see a blue bayou in the distance… And now I’m licking my lips...
