alright, so, I am a contract worker in engineering at Chrysler now. working in powertrain testing. just started last month
I guess the second shift engineer who monitors all the dyno tests somehow got promoted to first shift supervision. No one except that guy is happy about this. My boss asks me and the other contract guy, "Hey, so we are going to hire someone in but might have to cover that position for a little while. Can either of you work split shifts?*" *split= 12-8pm instead of like 2-11pm other contract guy: "uhhhhh yeah I am never available ever after work, unfortunately every single day I have a commitment". So I'm like, okay, easy chance to look a little better than the next guy. Say I can do it for a month, max Find out later that pretty much every other engineer in my role (a pool orb about 6 people) said they had absolutely no availability to cover. Other contact guy talks to me about it later, and is all like "Yeah man, unforutnately I have other commitments and also volunteer a lot, that's super great that you have the luxury to work whenever you want" Like shut the fuck up lol All I know is that if my boss asks me to work 2nd shift full time i'm gonna say hell no. Not trying to give up my social life without even being full-time/ salaried
