as long as the victim is part of a system
that they have come to reject.
Then conform their identity,
pundits and pageantry,
rally behind all the partisan lies—
Use constant conjecture to lay out and measure
the reason their “enemy” deserved to die.
We show footage of tragedy
mindlessly counting the money we make
then sermonize happily behind a camera
right before taking a commercial break
Companies dictate the words that we say
writing the script from behind the scenes
laughing at people who really believe
this is only a problem since 2016.
