Ive googled and called manufacturers an been to best buy 3 times now

I have a headphone wire coming out if the audio output headphone jack into the audio input jack on the sub .....all it does is hummm deep buzzy bass

HOW DO I MAKE THE TV SOUND COME OUT IF IT!??!
