Any y'all heard that shit bout Slaughterhouse starting a battle league

it comes down to a few things


1. who the judges are - there has to be credible, or at least SEMI credible battle judges on the panel. letting the girls from 3LW judge a 30 second freestyle battle beteen two nobodis on freestyle friday isn't so bad. but spending [X] amount of time/weeks writing and rehearsing 3 longer rounds for a battle just to have some ass hat like Miguel not get any bars and pick whoever's jacket he likes better would be the best way to never have real talent on your stage again.

2. they need to be selective with who they let on, or some sort of personal conduct clause in their contracts (assuming the talent signs a contract if they go on the show?) to keep them in line. Having dudes like Daylyt on the show stripping ass naked / rubbing his balls and touching people's faces / being overly physical and starting shit to compensate for the fact he's at best lower midcard, or Math swinging on dudes because he can't handle how they're acting, is BAD look for the culture.

3. NO GIMMICKS. Kinda ties into the last part but more on the side of props and gimmicky angles than personal conduct. Battle rap should be about the RAP. If there's not enough audience to be entertained by straight up battle bars - let it die. Don't try to force it by turning it into Yo Momma.

4. A legit host. Speaking of Yo Momma, other than the generally HORRIBLY STUPID PREMISE, another reason I think that show never got over was the fact that it was hosted by Wilbur Valaderranos or whatever. "Deh weener of deh battahl getss juan thouzahn dollars of CASHMAHNEE" will not help this. Nor will any other C list celebrity judge. While Lush One may not reach the average MTV viewer there are credible/proffessional people with ties to battling who they can put in the host position.



Overall I hope it gets over and takes battling up a notch in the mainstream... but I can't say I trust MTV.
