I was actually really digging this until the last paragraph. I'm a huge Hunter S. Thompson fan, but he's becoming kinda cliche at this point. In the section before the last you seemed like the trip was going very well and you enjoyed it and felt almost enlightened (least that's what I got from it) so the change in time didn't work for me. Also, at the start I didn't have faith in your schemes but you ended up pulling it off especially towards the middle. Good verse keep dropping man.
