Btw, since this is the 20th anniversary of the greatest rap album all time (Illmatic, to be sure), we should have a week where everyone gets a track title as their topic. Kinda like the Beatles. Just a thought.

Week 9 is phrases again, and the topics are going to be based on 1994 rap tracks and albums. Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik was released April 26, 1994, one week after Illmatic.

I didn't like Monomania as much as all their previous work. Halcyon Digest was the first album I'd heard from Deerhunter and remains my favorite.

I actually would compare it to the 2003 draft, with tremendous top-heavy talent that really overshadowed much of the depth. The 1996 draft was all about its depth (even with Kobe Bryant eventually overshadowing everyone else).

I'd say your list lends itself to the depth, rather than the top heavy talent, though with illmatic and ready to die I can see the Lebron/Melo comparisons (wade being the outkast).

What I meant was the second-tier albums from 1994 mostly fly under the radar, like The Sun Rises in the East, 6 Feet Deep and Stress: The Extinction Agenda.

He has, but in 2003 wade was an afterthought. I'd say outkast has had a better career than biggie, though an untimely death may make that comparison unfair.
