Basically u download a file from multiple sources at once, from other people that downloaded the file... so you're receiving bits of data and sending bits of data in very small/ slow amounts

If you use the most popular torrent you can find, you should be good on that. also if its an exe file dont run it

After you download it, right click on the file in your torrent app and click Stop so that you aren't putting out illegal file data forever
