The reason it's called "mainstream" is because you've hit the main stream, as in you've gained recognition by making it into the main market. "Thrift Shop" clearly has done that. I would bet that my friends who mostly listen to whatever's playing at the bar or club or on the radio would recognize everyone you named except Cassidy and Joe Budden, and they would have known them a decade ago, when "Hotel" and "Pump It Up" were major hits.
