anyone here read any or all of the Game of Throne books?

I'm usually not one to read series', but my fiancé loves them, and since she has them I'm debating getting into it. any thoughts?

I usually hang out at the public library in between having sex with multiple dime pieces effortlessly, so I know a little bit about books. Penguins classics? Read 'em. That latest mystery by the gay dude who wrote fight club? Been there. So it comes as a surprise, to honestly tell you I haven't read these babies, but I heard they're fucking gems.

My boy offered me his series once, saying that he and every1 he's ever lent them to have read the shits like water. Will get on this shit ASAP after I create a 7 figure salary as a pimp down here in the gutters of missouri. Best of luck on your journey.

Dracula: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, The Time Machine, War of the Worlds, The Illustrated Man by Bradbury.

Odyssey: Beowulf, Iliad (liked it better than Odyssey tbh).

the third is the best tho so far, the fourth book feels like a set up for the fifth book, but the fifth book is also like 3/4 setup.

basically the 4th and 5th book are like one giant book split in half.

but yea man they are pretty much as dope as it gets for the "fantasy" genre

its just a giant EPIC tho right? i dont know if i can wrap my head around something new.

i just started re-reading the wheel of time books. i read them up until the dude died, i dunno maybe 8 of them. but word i want to finally finish that series out so i can have closure on that

hopefully by then, patrick rothfuss' last book will be out for the kingkiller chronicles

then i will probably start malazan

Uh oh my dudeeeeeeee hahaha. Yea Malazan is a epic I didn't know what the fuck was going on for at least a thousand pages in. They're still making more but unrelated to the series. I got mad into it tho and read like all twelve books or whatever it is. It drags you in cuz all the povs are BOSSES. No Sansa stark my dude. Also the name of the wind and it's sequel are the best books I've read in years easily. That's includes the overrated gunslinger series. Rothfuss is my current fav. I read the first law aka Abercrombie books they were unexpected and great but the writing wasn't on the same level as rothfuss.

i read like 8 of them lmao, they get dope, but i was also like 16 at the time. re-reading them now they feel completely different and almost darker, and since i've read them before, i am skimming through alot of boring descriptions about nonsense that adds nothing to the story.

after rothfuss and martin tho reading "classic fantasy" like this, is very, very difficult because it all feels cliche, smalltown people on adventures, prophecies, chosen one!!!

but yea kvothe is that dude, i got the "rogues" anthology, edited by george rr martin and it has a short story in it written by rothfuss about bast. its interesting. its a day in the life of bast. kvothe is in it, its at their inn, but i think its before the chronicler shows up, but it gives some insight into bast.

martin also has a story in it, but its written like a history. like if you lived in westeros and picked up a history book, its like reading THAT. so i havent read it yet, its about a targaryen tho who started a war, go figure.

i read a few pages of abercrombies short story in it, and his writing was different but i kind of dug it. it made me want to give his books a try again.

have you read the farseer books? by robin hobb, the "assassin" trilogy or whatever. i remember those being really good as well.

Yeah man I read the farseer books. I recently read a book called Blood Song it's the best book I've read since Name of the Wind. Check it out bro. Also Scott Lynch lightbringer series is dope. The prince of thorns series is dope too I forget who wrote that off the top of my head. Also the lies of lock lamora. This is all stuff I've read recently trying to fill the rothfuss gap haha.

They're all really good but can seem very drawn out given his level of detail. Reading the books makes it hard to watch the series sometimes, though. Since minor things are different in the show.
