aight. so i decided to blow all my money and finish buying all the equipment i'll ever need lol.

yamaha hs5's
yamaha hs8s sub
yamaha ag03 interface
maschine mk3*
kontrol s49*
audio technica at-lp120-usb turntable*

the asterisks are the recent purchases being shipped

the akai fire, mpc renaissance, normal audio technica turntable, and the m-audio bx8's and interface are getting thrown in storage lol.

should i look into ableton though? alot of the vids and shit with komplete and maschine mention it, but i thought maschine had its own daw?

also im only gonna have komplete select. thinking i shouldve held off on the maschine and turntable and just upgraded it to the regular or ultimate version, but i wanna see if i can't just pirate some shit for now lol.

but yea the main plan is to try and go full original, and have the maschine and sampling to fall back on lol. also with all the software now, between melodyne and serato that can tell my tone deaf retarded self what key shit is in, i should be able to do more when i do sample layering instruments in maybe?

either way i need to justify these purchases by telling someone lol.

Ok. So I'm in the middle ground right now. I'm completely using this time to make the full switch to abelton. You can tell on my beat battle beat it was pretty sloppy. So from what Ive been doing I've been making basic drums and chopping samples and making a couple different sequences in Maschine then just exporting directly to Ableton and arranging it and putting effect in there.

Maschine isn't really a DAW because it's pretty limited on the linear arrangement portion. But you for sure can make beats from start to finish on it. I did it for like 6 years straight. I ran everything through it. All of Komplete ultimate and just rocked with my MPK49, a turntable and my logitec speakers. Whenever I actually felt like mastering a beat I did I'd do it in protools and that was the only time I really used my interface and monitors.

Im still at the beginning stages of this switch...but the more and more i'm doing it....I'm thinking about getting the Push and just quitting the maschine. Im really not liking running maschine as a VST. It's just feels weird to me. So i'm trying to get used to it.

I use Serato sample. It's pretty much my favorite plug in right now. The time stretching algorithm they use is insane. You used to have to pay for it separate for like 600 bucks and it only worked on logic and protools. But it's in the Sample VST and that only cost 80. It does tell you a key and it is pretty close to being right which is cool to play around with other songs. The chop section is underrated becasuse it looks so basic...but I kind of like it.

I know this isn't a ton of help because like I said i'm in the transition phase right now and really don't know which way i'm going. But it feels more and more like i'm going to get the PUSH and just make shit specifically in abelton. I'm also eyeing a yamahaa49 actual keyboard. Not a controller.

yea im guessing using the maschine in ableton is like using the mpc software in FL. it just feels goofy like a toned down DAW in a real DAW. but im guessing in maschine it probably is like an mpc in that sense. you have your patterns or sequences where you can make a loop, and then song mode where you arrange the sequences and patterns?

i didn't even think about the mixing aspect of it though. the mpc software had a decent mixer and stuff built in.

i might just go full vst through FL still. just use the maschine when sampling maybe and use the kontrol49 to control all the original shit i try doing loading the vsts through FL

i dunno though i never messed with any of these so i'll have to see. i think komplete select is pretty limited though. like it has 12 plugins instead of the 800 or whatever ridiculous amount ultimate has.

i played with serato on a free trial and dug it, i just have a hard time paying for software lol. but the chop modes operated just like the mpc though. i remember the time stretch being nice but in FL i was used to theirs anyways. i'm gonna see if i can't find a cracked version of that again.

the next purchases will be to upgrade my komplete though

The main things I use in Kompele are

Monark - Basically a mini Moog.
Vintage Keys
Scarbee Rickinbacker - I pretty much play all my bass on that piece.
LoFi Glow - I just bought it. It's a lofi synth. Decent if you're making that type of shit.
Alicia Keys Piano - Pretty good grand piano.
Transient Master - Makes the drums knock

But that's really it. Sometimes I'll play around in Massive. but really man I play with the other shit but have rarely actually used it on finished beats. I do like the expansion hip hop kits you can buy too. I actually pay for those.

i got the maschine, and the kontrol49 up and running. installed komplete select that came with it. but i can't get any of that shit to work. havent tried playing with the maschine, just got that today but i spent all night yesterday trying to load shit up with the kontrol keyboard. some sounds would load fine, like all the generic shit in maschine studio. but i can't get any plugin to load. i can use kontakt as a standalone. massive in standalone. but i can't bring them up in maschine, and bringing them up in FL is like whats the point, i've got none of the hardware functions and it was basically a glorified midi keyboard

i wanna do everything from the hardware. i think its cuz i have a funky install directory and shit? but im pretty sure i have it all in the preferences where to look i dunno

but this friday HOPEFULLY, i got an 8 tb hard drive coming, so i can move all my vr porn onto that lmao, and free up my 3 tb hard drive.

im not in too big of a rush yet, since im waiting on that. i got a torrent for komplete 12 ultimate collectors edition but its like 3 tb all said and done. so I wanna see if that works download wise

so i can put all the libraries and VST's in one consolidated spot and try and get it all to work from there

i dunno. these keys are sexy though and this maschine looks dope. i'll probably play around with it sample wise how i normally make beats soon

hoping that torrent actually works, and maybe i'll put that 75 towards stuff it doesn't have in it i dunno. but its realistically 3, 25 dollar vouchers so theres probably some fine print like only one per purchase fuckery

I really like the expansions DJ Khalil and Fadded Reels. Think they're like 30 a piece.

But word. Getting new VST's and shit is the most annoying shit ever. DIRECTORIES bro. Thats the issue I run into with everything. When switching to abelton it's been a pain because they only let you load 3rd party vsts from one fucking folder. I have shit everywhere. With Maschine you don't have to worry about that. I try and keep the actual instruments on the SSD and the sounds all on a different Drive that I dedicate to that. Just make sure you're opening the right version of Maschine too. Sometime when you download Kontact instrument you might grab the 32 bit and then be opening up 64 bit version of Mascine. I pretty much refuse to use 32 bit vsts for that reason.
