What are the pros and cons of a typical mixtape?

Do you enjoy shit like skits and stuff. I personally don't but most people have them. But I'm heading for like a soulful approach. Some radio type ish.

Why would you think 'skits' are a good idea in the first place?
I don't even know how a skit would take place for a soulful mixtape either
you remember Joe...you know "I wanna knowwww" that guy
didn't he have a skit in the video before the song...what was that shit?

anyway...I think mixtapes are fun if you make it into a themed type of idea
but if you are just going for a random set up of songs like one moment your like
"Tell me what you need, facial mask, cucumber seeds" or whatever then...
"Up in the club, drunk, bitch what what..." then "emmooottttiiiiooooonnnnnnssssss"
that's just not a soulful approach, that's mixed messages opposite of what you want to do...
but word I don't know what the mixtape is supposed to be so lol...

just make a bunch of dope songs

focus on the music not the structure. when you got 30+tracks cut it to 15 and if you have an idea for a skit and YOU feel it helps then throw it in

Nah nothing like that lol basically what uh-oh said. Dope songs but with meaning and all. It's only like 12 tracks so far/final but i feel like anyone of the songs i got so far could be classified as a radio joint. I'll be recording today as well.

word, i don't rap but i do beats and release tapes

i've made ones where its like the first 15 beats i like i put it out, but the quality is much better when you have to cut tracks you actually like. i try and do double whatever i'm releasing and take a few days cutting tracks from it

so you're left with your best shit that you like after multiple listens

also the shit you cut you can hold onto for filler in something else or just release it on its own to keep people interested between projects

Shit. I finally got about 30 or so tracks. Readynto upload a ep to datpiff or something. Maybe just 7-8 tracks to see how people fucks wit it. Im just not happy with quality of all my shut. Obviously its been gettibg progressively better with practive. But some of my fsvorite tracks are old ones and need re doing. Wtf
