NBL Season XIV Week Three Magazine

Introduction

We've made it to week 3 guys! Have to say i'm pretty impressed so far. There's been some great short battles thus far, voting has generally been solid and thorough, and we've made it to the contendership battles. People want their opportunity to become champ, and to read title battles, and it's almost here.

We have some dope Veteran sign ins this week, numerous potential BOTWs, and a very healthy roster atm.

I wont ramble on. Let's get on with the Mag.




Season News & Notes


• Contendership Matches are up, and the first Champ Match is next week.WEEK 4.


• I WANT YOUR INPUT. Have an idea you think will help the league? Bring it up in the chat thread and @ me.

• The First NBL Season champion will get $50.00. Keep up the effort and you’ll be rewarded. Keep up the great work and i will reward the season champion with more $.

• Contendership and champ match battles will be a minimum of 14 lines. There isn’t going to be 10 line champ match battles. This is non negotiable.

• This will be a Ten Week season before playoffs. If you haven't yet signed in, or are currently signed out, get in NOW before it's too late to make it into Playoffs.

NO Throwback battle this week. No one seemed to care last week so i can't be bothered and i'll save the 5 minutes.

Week 3 Power Ranks - by Blue Bayou


1) @INF - Inf has come out of the gate swinging. Two potential verses of the week to start, and an extremely impressive victory, and quite frankly upset, over NC HOF'er Orc last week, lands INF the #1 Spot.

2) @Cashius - Cash is a perennial threat in any league or tournament he's in, and has wasted very little time reminding everyone of that. I thought it was a very dope verse to beat Barc last week, with solid personal angles worded to sting. Coming of VOTW Cash is easily in the Top 5 atm, probably even the favorite to champ as it stands now.

3) @Allen Knight - Fuck you Allen!


4) I'm joking i'm joking

One look at Allen Knight's lost of accomplishments and you'll see the cold hard truth. AK is one of, if not THE, winningest battler in NC history factoring in NC1. Allen's fresh wordplay and aggressive style makes him a threat to win against anyone. My only beef would be sometimes his wording isn't the sharpest when he rushes verses, but there's no denying the fact this guy is a winner. Straight up. AK's 2-0 and has set himself up well to become first champ.

4) @Letterman - After an impressive showing in Week One bagged him VOTW honors, Lett unfortunately got NS'd last week. He did however PM me a verse that was pretty dope. Last seasons LLL champ is a threat and anyone who takes him lightly will regret it. Tough draw against Cash this week but so long as he voids too over the top wordplay i'm confident he's going to impress all season.

5) @Destroyer - Shitty deal not getting a Contendership battle this week. That'll teach you to not disrespect Canada. J/K obv. Des is 2-0 but both wins coming by NS, and Lett having VOTW week 1, gave Letterman the nod. However Des is a wiley vet that always has a strong mixture of humor and personals that makes hima threat to champ this season. A win in his Week 3 matchup all but assures Des a Contendership shot next week, and he rounds out the current Top 5.



Week 2 Reviews – by Inno


Seth vs Plot

word so this battle was phoned in from both characters tbh. both had some rushed or keyed verse but both managed to take some jabs at each other. Seth seemed to take my advice from last week and work on that wording issue, way to go hoss. he had flow smooth in this one easy to read verse. Plot had some good ideas and from time to time he landed like his opener. but for the most part he seemed to stumble his wording which too away. headache and blaze do not fucking rhyme wtf? The vote tally went in Seth's favor with a whopping 5-0 KO.

Plots LOTB:

Fat old ginger nerd, your a virus risk thru and thru..
Stay inside and don't touch ANYONE Seth, just keep doing you

Seth's LOTB:

Wipe you out in front of moms and pops, shit gets hazy for this awkward lona
I got a throat kick that'll make your family panic thinking their baby caught the rona

Flow vs Slecht

Another one sided battle here? word so flow went for the throat here. he was shooting for the fences the entire verse. this is an example of someone not sleeping on his opponent. Flow didn't give slecht pass at all. I mean slecht is a decent battler and could of took this from flow if flow didn't drop as aggressive. I'm sure flow can come much better than this I'm not saying this is near his a game but he did his thing here. it looks like slecht tried a new approach but it failed him completely. I get was he was trying to do but if your going to go super short in line length dem punches got to be all haymakers. slecht through all jabs.


Flow's LOTB:

Orc vs INF

This might be BOTW right here. Orc showed and INF managed to not get DQ'ed before he dropped his verse. that's an accomplishment on its own. Ok so Orc came in with some heavy personal stabs at INF calling him a filthy biter and victim of depression. also that he's infamous for his DQ's. impressive verse but it seems that he focused to much on that one angle. INF took a more generic approach from what I'm seeing. that birdhouse punch seems to be the only name play. the voters gave it to INF but after reading this my self I got Orc his verse was much cleaner and read smoother. INF's wording on this one was a bit choppy. but word this was a dope battle thanks to both.


Orc's LOTB:

Been DQ’d more times than anyone. wat the fuck has got into you!?
Inf the type to spend hourrrsss editing his resume… in the middle of the job interview.

INF's LOTB:

Adverse vs Aura

whats up with all these one sided battles? anyway aura got this one from AD with more votes. I mean I read auras verse and didn't see anything impressive. other than the MLK line it was a decent showing. Adverse didn't drop anything worth quoting from the voters point of view. despite that tho I felt like he made progress from last week. these niggas jaded Hyundai line not fire? wtf. any way aura took this with the KO but I hope adverse keeps showing.


Aura's LOTB:

Maximus vs Smash

ok so one im reading for the first time now lol most of these actually. ok so off the bat I don't know what a caudal is?i don't get that at all pimp. this verse was interesting the closer had me tripping lol I was laughing at you max not with you. smash did you try to make the text look for audio like? was that your angle? it failed homie. that maxi pad line was a bit cringe for me. so yeah this battle was entertaining tbh.

Maximus LOTB:

It's not about the line efforts or who is the rhyme setter

this was a solid battle with 2 heavy weights right here. I feel like barc went with light jabs and relied on his cash flips to carry him. solid punches through out but not enough to take cash. Cash on the other hand came bit more consistent to me. it was close fur sure but I think barc fucked up and wasted a bar on aero wtf? cash ended up taking this with another KO!

Surprise surprise aero didn't show who would thought. des dropped his verse and pretty much man handled aeros no show to oblivion. not to much as I would of thought, seems des was going for the kill! to bad would of been a great one.

ok so I thought the cog had this before he posted and tbh he took this. the voters got it all wrong I mean dam that abracadabra line had me losing it, the multies where firing on all cylinders. ultimately the voters didn't want a lyrical god and chose to go with the guy who wrote actual punches which was FGR. he had some solid punches that landed smoothly. good shit. Another KO wow!.

seems like people liked enders verse and this was closer than the votes indicate. ender had some clever word play that hit with good impact. seems that's what he was missing to win this, a little more consistent impact. AK got all the votes but voters noticed it wasn't his best turn this week. looking for AK to sake off that rust. good battle here.

Week 3 Predictions – by Inno


Answer vs John Dillinger

word good to see answer back writer bars. oh wait he already signed out thanks answer. he also already posted a mean 20 on JD pffffff. I haven't seen JD in the battle scene seen he joined, don't know how rusty he is but he's to come with heat. I would of said answer got this despite him dropping early and me reading it before I wrote this. all I know is it just confirms it, I mean JD might not show lol. I got answer 70/30



Destroyer vs Orc

ok so this one is shaping up to be a good one as the old man challenges the young Irishmen to a looks contest. posting his greys for the world to see with his seed in hand, disgusting. orc is probably going to post a picture of him in some random gym bathroom looking like he just got out a 3 hour make up session. this should be a really good battle folks. 60/40


Slecht vs Wanderer

so yo I don't know who wanderer is but he sure has a way about him doesn't he? very confident this dude comes off says I. it will be interesting to see what he drops which surely will be some amazing stuff from what im sensing. slecht has stumbled first 2 weeks of the season. took a chance last week and tried some really short bars that bit his dumbass in the ….asss anyway im looking forward to this one to say the least. I don't know wanderer at all so im going with slecht on this one 70/30



Defiant vs Cred

cred's gonna say some shit about guns I know it. I just know it. any way this might seem like a one sided match with most of you going for cred, including me. defiant has a chance to take an upset here. I mean it perfect, cred is just coming back and may have some rust, or might just sleep on him. I expect cred to handle defiant but I hope he doesn't take him too lightly D might jut drop the D. I got cred tho 70/30



Sinacog vs dull boy vs Smash

I don't know about this one tbh. I mean you got the cog that's a given but who else really? last time dull boy no showed. last time I saw anything from smash he was trying to make text into audio. don't know fellas I think the cog might take this legitimately tbh. tough choice tough choice. smash is really good and so is dull boy. I think ama give it to smash on this one 50/25/25


FGR vs Neighbor

ok so this one should be a good one to watch. FGR isn't a stranger to trading top tier bars. I feel like hes just getting warmed up. while neighbor is an old legend come back from the dead. if his noshow verse last week was any indication of what NEIGH can do then the league needs to pay attention to this one. it could be a close one if fgr brings his A-game but I got neighbor here 70/30



Ender vs Flow

this one is interesting. ender has his own style and voters seems to like his concepts. this one has potential to be an upset if im being honest. flow is not one to let off people necks despite the competition. so I expect him to come with the same energy he did last week. I just think ender could pull off a W with some unorthodox methods so flow needs to keep that foot down. I give ender some credit but I got flow taking this 80/20



Aura vs Zuo

another interesting battle here. zuo aka zelph is signing back in and going against a very beatable aura. now I don't know who aura is exactly but that doesn't matter here. last week aura took the W but tbh it was a lackluster battle as one voter put it. zuo is capable of dropping some dope shit so I hope aura takes him seriously 60/40



Seth vs Incredible

im liking this match up right here. Seth who surprisingly hasn't signed out is coming off a win last week. it was a decent verse that only scratched the suffer of what this jew is capable of. inc is also coming off a win heeey way to go buddy. anther upset potential but its highly unlikely. I expect seth to take the W but I also expect inc to impress the voters. I got seth tho 70/30



Contenders: Cashius vs Letterman

ok ok this first contenders match of the season right here. pitting cashius the Mormon stormin against letterman the unknown ? DAM! this one could be BOTW in my opinion. Cashius is trying to cement his heavy weight status early in the season. I see a young gun letter coming for the throat with the punches. hes gonna have to tbh, cash is the obvious favorite. 80/20


Contenders: INF vs Allen Knight

the second of our first contender matches. the crafty DQ'er and master of the edit button INF vs the old savy vet turning into dust allen knight. this is surely going to be dope dope battle. I see inf dropping his creative bars while allen comes with some sports bar that will leave our jaws open. I look forward to this match the most. I got inf on this one 60/40
