Default Detour VS Dizaster

meh, tbh not a fan of both but seen a lot of people talkin about the battle and detour going around saying he 'bodied' diz.

http://www.putlocker.com/file/5F233412F3FF6657#

diz freestyled the whole thing from what it seems

you don't have Flash joe?

just wait for a computer, it's nothing you need to rush to watch

was eh, I liked both to the same extent. Detour was more consistent but diz had the harder hits that got more of a laugh out of me

never been a huge fan of diz cus he just yells but he had jokes

diz freestyled most of his first but he wrote his second...don't make excuses for him cuz he lost lol...

an I been sayin I bodied him cuz, tho ur gonna say I'm just name dropping, real deal/conceited/dna/speek green/50+ people at the venue said he got smashed...haven't read a single review from someone at the event saying otherwise...real deal went so far as to approach me after the match an tell me I'd be famous within a year with that performance an say he'd battle me in a heart beat if I ever wanted to do it...

maybe u think I lost an that's fine I'm just explaining where I got this "idea" that I beat the guy...u really should watch the official footage tho it's 1000x better...not like u can't unsubscribe immediately an not have to pay anything...u still get a free two week membership an it's got conceited real deal Jonny storm dna o red an more on the channel

u don't really make shit off views...tbh I think the paid subscription shit is gay but the fact they were doing that was hidden from all the artists by mr xtra, the guy who runs colorado rap...I wouldn't have done the battle had I known...

for fucks same, I battled dizaster an it barely has 1000 views? u really think I woulda been kosher with that lol? I'm just giving u a work around...

but tbh tho with the amount of work u have to put into this art to be great at it, u have to get paid...the leagues have to have a way to support that, so charging three bucks to watch ten battles isn't much...if kats don't start doing paid viewing services the art will die soon enough an there will be no more battle leagues...

lets be real, battle rap right now is the last form of true, raw lyricism left in hip hop...u can say there's musicians who are lyrical but battle rap is about real rappers not just makin a good hook an if it dies then so does the lyrical progression an creativity that it spurs...

people expect to be entertained for free but what about the guy who spends ten hours writing, two weeks memorizing an another week rehearsing, then goes all over the country to put on a show an entertain not only the live crowd but the YouTube crowd as well? u gonna tell me he should dedicate his life to something that will never put food in his kids mouths?

kats act like a rapper is selfish for wanting to get paid, but in all honesty the fans are selfish for expecting us to devote countless hours to the craft without being compensated...I'm all for the love of hip hop but the love of hip hop doesn't feed my children or pay my rent or provide the money to cover the cost of traveling around the country doing this shit...

smack is the one league that doesn't have to charge for viewers at all (for now, but I guarantee that day will come) but that's cuz they charge anywhere from 50-150 per ticket to get in the door...

people get offended that they're asked to contribute to the cost of their entertainment but that's expecting something for nothing an it's not fair to the rappers, the hosts, the people who spend all day an night organizing these events an to thru insane amounts of stress to pull it off successfully...

I got no issues with u gow but that's a real asshole statement to make...if u don't wanna pay to watch some shit that's perfectly all right but sayin ull be damned if u have to contribute to enabling the people who entertain u to eat an provide for their families is just extremely inconsiderate an short sighted...

maybe u don't realize how much time effort an money it takes to run a league or even just be a musician or rapper...fuck us (rappers an organizers) for tryna find a way to be able to dedicate the time necessary to putting on worthwhile shows an still be able to survive...s'all good tho, maybe I sound bitter, but that shit pisses me off...kats treat MCs like we should just live in a cardboard box an eat at soup kitchens so u can watch us put out hearts into ur entertainment for free...

I suppose McDonald's should just give all their food away for free for the love of feeding the world an whatever u do for a living u should just do for free so u don't have to inconvenience ur customers by asking them to pitch anything in on whatever ur providing...ok I'm done now...no more essays...pz

lol. if people don't pay, then rap battles will stay an amateur sport. you'll still get paid at the venue. this shit doesn't see ur pockets anyways

no one is tryna say you guys are being selfish for wanting to get paid. we are saying we would never pay money to watch a rap battle on the Internet.

you dudes are dumb. get money from advertising like every pro sport on the goddamn planet. this isn't UFC. winners aren't even declared at the end rite? shits gay

if I go to McDonalds, I wAlk out with a sandwich. if I sign up for RapBattle$MoneyMilkingFarm, I watch a battle I honestly don't care about, then they are gonna do anything they can to grab cash from my credit and keep me snared

anyways pirating this shit is a positive externality for you. same with pirating video games. Ppl watching this stuff on PutLocker are the people who would never pay for it in the first place, and if they are gonna show their friends, they're gonna show them the free version not be like "hey mayne sign up for the premium rap battle service and peep this one battle". If they like what they see, they might sign up to see all the battles conveniently and in HQ. more views= more sales at the door

PS you lost. your schemes were tight but he merked with the jokes. stop talking about killing ppl you don't look the part

@detour: Word.. But there's several ways to make this shit work now that there are people outside of hiphop that enjoys this shit weekly. I got a couple of friends that isn't even into hiphop that checks out these videos. Now let's look into this shit.

Quote:
As a member of the Youtube partners program, they typically pay 1/3 cents to 1 cent per view. As you get more consistant viewers, they pay a higher percentage. Some of these posters can make a very significant income off their videos.

For example, a video with 1,000,000 views x .0033 = $3300. This is the minimum you will make if you're a yourtube parter.

Youtube is owned by Google so click on the link below to learn more.
http://support.google.com/youtube/bi...n&answer=72902
A video that gets 333k views, that's about 1100$. A night with 4-5 battles can generate around 5000$ based on views alone. It isn't much, but it still is a bit.

If we look at what a lot of indie developers that make games have started doing nowadays is free games with a donation button where you can pay the ammount you think the game is worth in order to support them. I'm sure that if the people behind KotD, GT etc. makes a FAQ or a video explaining shit (or even a couple lines before each battle) the way you did here people will want to help out or give a donation every now and then. If a video has 2-300k unique views we can deduce an average of 500-1k donations per video, an average of 10$ each we're starting to look at numbers here.

If we add that on top of the 1100$ we're probably looking at 1-2000$ extra per video. +/- an average of 7500$ per night. would it really be un-realistic to think that there's 7500$ generated per night? 4000 is spread across the battlers. 2000$ to the hosts and 1500 for other expenses (renting a venue, the editing dude, filmer).

And all of this is before we bring in sponsors, entrance fees and other things that bring in some money (t-shirts/merch etc. etc. which can be used to pay for travel expenses to get battlers to come, cleaning personell, bouncers, top prices for play-offs/finals). Since they already got a working program it shouldn't be impossible for those dedicated to this shit to keep it going or get involved somehow and live off battle-rap or something related to it. But to keep battle-rap the way it is now it might be shortlived if we want to keep outsiders interested. It can't be redundant or repetitive another 5 years. But right now, I fail to see how this can't be done. There's SEVERAL ways to make this work, this is just a fucking freepost ffs and it might be naive, but there's a shitload of ways to make money from this shit and still keep it free for viewers if they wish.

All it takes is someone that is good with money that can make a yearly estimate of how much cash they're making, how it should be spread around and to whom. What ya'll need to do as battlers is to bring this to the attention of hosts/those behind this etc. unless they're already at the top of their game. It takes an effort from everyone tho', but I believe it can be done.

as for split, whatever bro...u don't understand how this shit works tbh...an if I think dizaster won that's fine but I'm a go with the opinion of the 100+ people who watched it happen live...no offense, but if ur gonna talk down to me then I'm a reciprocate the favor...maybe one day ull speak to me like a respectable human being instead of insulting me for kicks an maybe then I will respect what u have to say...

an to objective, ur numbers are off...lemme just run some shit by u I know from personal experience...

venue - 1000
camera crew an editing - 300
artist travel - 1500
artist accommodations - 500
artist performance fees - 5000
flyers - 150
transportation - 100
street team promotion - 500

an that's just a basic run down for what it cost to throw the rapbattlenetwork event...sittin right at 10K...YouTube is close to what u said but it's actually less, averages to just under 3000 per million views...I know this cuz I have a YouTube channel with 250K views...

u charge 25 per ticket at the door an pull 250 people (which is a really high number if ur not smack or kotd or don't flop throwing one of their mega events, which actually cost a lot more than 10K to put on)...

so u just made 6250...u may very well pull 1,000,000 views off that (rapbattlenetwork network never will cuz they completely fucked the release of these battles off an actually killed themselves by charging for the channel without any kind of solid promotional scheme to back it up)...that gives u 9250...ur still 750 short of breakin even...

even if u did break even, that doesn't include the hundred hours at least the event organizer put into it an that is also assuming the five artists who flew out are the only ones getting paid...if u count the dudes they battling an what they get paid ur just even more in the hole...an that's for ONE ROUND BATTLES not full length battles...

nobody in their right mind is gonna put in that much work to pull that event off an walk away 750 in the hole, or even if they made exactly what they put in back, still not worth it cuz running an organizing events like that is a full time job...

if u make that an event where everybody on the card is a big enough name that they getting a stack plus travel an hotel to battle u just added another 5-6 grand to that...no way in HELL u makin that back off the door an YouTube...

don't flop pulled 500 people at their last event but they also spent at least twice that on throwing it an actually more cuz it cost bout a stack to round trip someone from America...there are sponsors but nobody wanna put up enough bread to cover the difference cuz battle rap doesn't provide a wide enough demographic to make the promotion u get as a sponsor worth the investment...it's too underground...

point being it's not nearly as easy as u think to make a living running a league...I've ran events before an while I didnt run this one I had a very detailed knowledge of what the costs were...I did music business law classes an so the league owner had me write out all the contracts for everything...

so being that someone spent at least 100 hours planning organizing an running this event, an probably deserves at least 10 an hour for their work, which isn't a very good wage tbh, add another thousand to it an u end up needing bout 1750 more than what the door an YouTube will make...u might get a thousand dollars in sponsorship money for that event but ur still 750 short...

an that once again is assuming only half ur main event battlers got paid...if they all get paid ur sitting bout 5750 short...the only way to make it worth anybody doing it at a professional level is if the fans contribute, same way u pay for UFC rights an boxing matches..

smack is the exception, but that's cuz he can pull a 2000 person crowd an charge 50-150 a ticket...his youtube channel pulls 150K views at the absolute least per battle an so he can legit expect 3-5 million views per event...but he's a very exclusive brand that only accepts battlers that personally know him or Beasley or Norbes an if ur not a fan of the URL style ur not gonna wanna watch those battles cuz URL lacks diversity in accepted styles...

point is, the money isn't what u think it is

Welcome to professional music, where that makes so much sense to you but you still take gigs for anything from free food and tips to just being able to promote yourself in hopes of getting actually paying gigs. Cause theres always someone who will do it for less and the quality won't be bad enough where people will notice.

an u have to remember that battlers prices continue going up...t rex been doing this for ten years an every battle he has his price goes up a little...

it's not necessarily right but it's the facts...if u wanna book arsonal ur gonna get a million views but ur gonna spend at LEAST three grand on him...

those numbers I listed were the price for ONE ROUND battles...dizaster cost the league 1500 for two rounds...if that event was all standard three round battles u woulda doubled the cost of their performances AT THE VERY LEAST...

so if u wanna look at it in terms of a regular event with standard three round format ur gonna be payin those guys all about 2000 a piece an now u just spent 10Kon performance fees alone...

u expect 4000 on ttalent but ur payin more than twice that

but there is a huge quality difference in what u get from a 2000 per performance artist an a kat that is willing to do it for free...a fuckin HUGE difference bro...
an that goes for music as well as battle rap...watch type z perform live then watch ayeverb perform live...two totally different worlds bro...
an tbh no I don't take free gigs...I rap for a career an u have to know what ur worth..:I get paid to do performances...u have to earn the right to get paid but 20+ shows an 20+ battles in I've earned the right to expect that...
an I only charge $250 plus travel an hotel...but yeah if u want thesaurus on ur card it's gonna run u bout 1500...
u want ayeverb it's gonna cost u bout 4000...hollow Da don is gonna be about 5000...pat stay is probably about 2000...

What I was implying is that if you can't do what KOTd does and go multinational in popularity, and if you can't make money off local ticket sales, then you should go out of business. Competition. Don't blame your audience for not buying what you're selling

Mom & Pop stores will always lose to Walmart. Always. They either evolve into a franchise or get left behind. Sucks to suck man

lol performing arts

musics a different world bro. theres a huge difference in quality between green day and me, but those fucks will run you way more than I would. so a gig in a the right location I can break even from is worth it if I can pick up a few other gigs/students. and believe me, after 5 years of passive gigging around and teaching on top of experience I've more than earned being paid... still doesn't matter. I say this with the luxury of not being a professional musician cuz fuck that

but even for kotd...THEY DO PAY PER VIEW BRO...

it's impossible for kotd to survive without pay per view...I think doing pay per view events an then later releasing the battles for free is the way to go, same way UFC does it with pay per view an spike tv...

but a kotd event cost easily well over 25K to throw an realistically over 30K...u got fifteen battles an u payin 20K in performance fees alone if not more, plus travel hotels venue fees etc...they couldn't do it without charging viewers WHICH THEY DO...

as I said before I am NOT down with what rapbattlenetwork did at all, my point is that for gow to say he be damned if he ever pays to watch a battle emcee is not only selfish but it belittles what we do...like "Oh I'd pay to wath a musician or a mma fighter ur I ain't givin up no money for battle rappers y'all ain't worth it"...that's INSULTING bro...

an I've had convos with him before where he pretty much told me that rappers shouldn't get paid an should be content to do it for the love of hip hop...so my response is also taking into account these prior convos...

people constantly belittle the worth of battle emcees an make comments about how we just battle or they'll never pay to watch us or this that an the other..:like cuz it's a battle it makes u worth less even tho u put just as much time an effort in...

so what u bodied diz? diz making a mockery of battle rap anyway because he hasn't even really tried or prepared since that whole arcane fiasco. Personally I think he is waiting to battle on URL where he uses more prepared material than random freestyles.

and P.S. you battled diz and only got 1k views? look at his last 3-4 battles! people are catching on that he isn't trying....just freestyling through everything letting other people come up.

and P.S.S. I'd only pay to watch certain battlers...and KOTD only got a handful...literally.
