but looking back at them recently, jim carrey was SUPER corny. still funny tho but he doesnt hold up to me like chris farley does

there were better comedic actors, there were better sketch guys (maybe)

Who is your favourite stand up comedian?

George Carlin is probably mine, I like him not just as a comedian but also as a writer, he very rarely had a word out of place, he didn't waste a syllable, everything was essential for the jokes to work as well as they did. Those lists he did (people who need to get an inoperable tumour on the base of their spine etc) were pure genius, because they were hilarious but also written and performed to absolute perfection. He was an artist.

In terms of just being a naturally hilarious person I would personally go for Billy Connolly, he was unbelievable, he would do 80 nights and every night the show would be completely different because he didn't really write so much as he just got up and spoke about his life, and the way he spoke about it was funny. watching him was like having a conversation in a bar with a really funny friend, he just said what came out and what came out just happened to always be funny. His stand up probably isn't known much in America tho, but over here he would generally be regarded in the same way as Carlin and Pryor are in the USA.

my top 5 no order would have to be pryor, carlin, cosby, eddie murphy, and dave chappelle probably.

i don't like alot of the "classic" white comedians, like bill hicks and sam kinnison that everyone loves. but at the time they were probably killing the game. i just grew up and there matierial was bitten/done over and over by others to the point that when i actually heard them i didnt care.

i think bill burr is making a case for top 10, same with louie. i'd put patrice oneal top ten too but sadly he didnt do enough. but his comedy cd's are solid and elephant in the room is amazing.

people like jim norton alot i think he's aight.

i'd put hedburg up there maybe top 10. more likely in the teens tho
