PS3 ...Yellow light of death (ylod) questions ITT

..has anyone had this problem?

If so, this question is for those of you who took your console to a specialist and paid to get it repaired. I went to philly over the weekend and spent the my time with my youngest brother who recently bought a newer ps3 because the one he had previously was experiencing what sounds like the ylod problem. So anyway, he gave it to me and I brought it home. Havnt called around yet, so what I'm wondering is how much you paid or where the best place to take my console for quality repairs and trustable service.

Anyone have any good information about this that would be helpful?

As I said, I know this is something I could do myself with a heat a gun and the propper youtube video I'm sure, but I would rather have someone with experience do it for me. So any ideas on where to take it and how much it around abouts that it will run me would be great. Thanks ncg's!

Go to Google and search for playstation forums, join one active official forum and ask there. Do the same thing with a forum that specializes in hacking Sony/playstation/PSP products. Doing that along with the answers you might get in here should definitely give you a fairly good estimate of the money to spend and where you'll get the best service. Or just getting advice on simple shit you can to do that you might not only save money on, but might be a better option as well.

Hi...

It's happened to me twice...
The first time, I purchased a new one, put the old one in the box and returned it...
The second time I paid 60 to get it fixed...
It worked fine but they replaced the fan and the new one was loud...
My friend tried fixing his on his own with the help of YouTube videos...
It worked for a few weeks but stopped after that...
