I stood in the rain for what felt like days, dazed, staring into my cigar's flame, watching over New York with an invincible gaze, strange... I hate this ember taste. My suit has been soaked for hours but I didn't mind, it isn't right to throw fits tonight, behind me in the elevator is a princess type, a tempest confined by riches and pride. So I'm playing it cool to see how it goes as she powders her nose, my flesh is cold, the doors open and I can see locks of gold, an empowered rose from breasts to toes. She pulls out a cigarette and asks if I've got a light, our eyes meet for a brief moment, I spark a match and torch her high, but she sighs, "Christmas Eve and I'm hopeless." Squinting as if I'm trying to read her mind, the way she breathes is divine- flawless, and the way her dress cuts off at the thigh, I can't seem to believe my eyes- God Bless. "My fiance is fucking his best friend, who's a man, inside our Hotel room across the street, and yet I just find it SO impressive that the damn guy had the jewels to drop his key..." I can't help but chuckle, despite her troubles, the idea of a man cheating on her is odd, she notices but humble, she bites her tongue to give me a chance, winking at my flaw. "I'm sorry about your fiance, but hey, there's plenty of fish in the sea." She grins with a flirtatious sway, as if to say "well maybe you're the only fish for me." "Yeah I know, but I really thought he was different, he was persistent AND resistant, and now I know his feelings weren't independent... greedy intentions and visions..." She rolls those beautiful blues and stares at the sky, like the truth is written in the stars, "well, the usual fools always wear their lies, so maybe you knew but listened to your heart." She flashes those pearly whites again, "you're kind, but I think I might just be stupid," I shorten the distance with a sly stance, "that's not right, after all... you're only human." She ties the knot by grabbing my hand, "see, there's the type of man I need in my life..." despite the odds, I ease into her lips for a passionate kiss before the deceiving surprise. She drops to both knees whispering "no... please..." as the bullet tears her dress, "your fiance sends his regards..." she holds my sleeve as she weeps... scared... and dead. What goes around comes around. |
