OFFICIAL RULES:
Verses are due Friday, October 17th, 11:59p.m. PCT/2:59a.m. EST/7:59a.m. UK. There are NO extensions.

Verses MUST be a minimum 10 lines or a maximum of 48 lines (or 650 words).

Votes are due Sunday, October 19th, 11:59p.m. PCT/2:59a.m. EST/7:59a.m. UK. Failure to vote will result in automatic sign out for the next week.

Pulled up in a candy painted Caprice, chromed out, why wouldn't we?
Been hustling since I understood to breathe, since we stood in streets
Slanging on the corners, we were born into this crooked scene
Seen more bodies than a butcher's dream, but the game's been good to me
Sitting at the stop light, waiting for the traffic to pass through
Live life to the fullest, play it fast with these brash rules,
I've been known to push nice whips, drive quick and pack tools
So when I saw him in my back view, I knew it was a jack move
Couldn't react quick enough, .45 as he walked up
My mans in the passenger seat, staring into a shotgun
Too much pride to call for the cops, or Johnnie Cochran
I hopped out, and watched em pull away in my drop, stunned
My mans pulled his heater and popped once, I shook it off
Reached for my nine, unhook and draw, then took a pause
I'm getting too old for this bullshit, full clips, the hood and all
I see an on-looker dial 9-1-1 then push to call....

I can already hear the sirens...Shot's fired, they coming fast
Two black men with guns, don't matter if we got fuckin jacked
We would be the target, corruption is what the judge'll pass
Spotlights start to chase us, so we run it back, no love for that
Start to rethink the decisions that had lead me to this place
Always lived a life of crime, On the edge is where we played
Kinda wish I woulda pledged to be a better kid, and prayed
Maybe then I would have gained a couple letterman displays
I'm feeling death is on it's way... flash back to the squad cars
No hesitation made when they stop, drop and the shots start
My man caught one in the leg, as we hopped off of block, scarred
No due process... If we ever really had rights, they forgot ours
We ducked into an alley way, and ran into a dead end
A life of bad decisions flashed before me and my best friend
Who'll take care of my lady? Who'll care for my dependants
I swear, I make it out alive, no more pretendin', I'm amendin'

I hear them scream to lock our hands, with no question, behind our head
I'm just trying to be compliant or we're destined to find our end
So much pressure inside the minds who were lesser a type of men
Hope together we might contend to live better our time again....

My body fell... My heart stopped... Everybody fell back to listen
No shots fired... No gun smoke... What have we had to witness?
Death is all that is certain... from the guns that clap in rhythm
