i don't think there's a fighter i've watched who has hurt my soul more than bj penn.
all love to him, i think few men in existence truly embodied that anywhere, anytime mindset that he boasted. skill-set aside (phenomenal for its time), it's the reason he garners so much reverence.
nick mauling him in the second round was bad, but he won the first and actually walked him down the third. he at least hit a few trips on rory, too. still, the last three fights have been like watching his ghost compete.
i guess i'm the moron for getting hyped every time he returns. i want to believe - i live in hope.
