"...Imagination: The Vegetables Parable..." (2004)

Imagine simplicity.

Intangible isn’t it?

And to imagine implicitly manages idiots.
Try to imagine if simply your passion was limited,
Like,
if you imagined infinity was captured in minutes,
would you rather those minutes be scattered like innards,
where time’s increments no longer matter within us?
In a manner that’s instant we can shatter the image,
that what we SEE is a lie and that reality’s in US!
It’s the data envisioned sleeping or actively diligent,
That’s a path to the village of equal status existence,
We’re all utopists,
But it’s sad we can’t imagine what isn’t us,
Like,
why’s love with one handicapped a radical venture?
It’s because our ego is a planet where we stand at the center,
And however clichéd,
We keep it on its axis, remember?
I couldn’t imagine if someone in my fam was dismembered,
But the military packages members of family members,
Not ashes but rather fragments of limbs,
Who just happened to be soldiers who weren’t blasted to embers,

Truthfully,
Imagination’s stifled because our passion is central,
Even imagination can’t be taken for granted, so listen…….

Imagine a legend who loved the psalm of Lennon,
YET used to “Imagine” all the people in Vietnam were devils.
This was an ideal he’d use while armed with weapons,
He imagined victims as animated, those who were harmed where sketches,
Colored in by a maroon hue,
He was part of a platoon who,
Imagined themselves as artists, yet their Renaissance was deadly,
One day he’d close his eyes,
The smell of napalm was heaven,
He imagined its gates, and crawling over fleshy mounds to enter,
Suddenly,

ENEMY FIRE!!!!

Their deployed bombs would sever,
His arms and dent in his gauzed cerebrum,
But this was different,
He’d survive being part of the Hades troops,
With an indention in his skull the size of a grapefruit,

Imagine that.

Imagine his cartoon characters spilling over the margins,
Who were the souls from the carcasses controlling his conscience,
The psych ward said his fascination isn’t credible,
Imagine being like him:

Now having the imagination of a vegetable…..
