Misunderstood.
Listen to Minister Farrakhan opinion on this exact subject. Him and Kayne share the exact theory its just Keynes opinion was not voiced in the right venue to the right audience.
Kayne saying slavery is a choice had nothing to do with the times of the European slave trade. He is speaking of the things that enslave our black people still today. Its our choice to let certain things control our culture. We have the power to rise above the bondage that our people face in modern times yet we choose to be restricted by certain classes of society by allowing them to dictate our lifestyles.
Its nothing new Kayne said. Black Leaders have been speaking these same truths for 100 years.
When Malcolm X said " We as a people decide when slavery ends and freedom begins" is that not implying a choice?
When Dr King said "Slavery has became our mindstate, we will end it when the people are ready to cross that road" was he not implying a choice?
