Who'd you grow up listening to?
It's definitely a combination of some weird ass rock and rap mash ups. Which eventually led to bands like the Smashinh Pumpkins, RHCP, Snoop Doggy Dog, 2Pac and 311... Around this time I also discovered Allanis Morsette. Jagged Little Pill rocked!
Then came the influence... It was the early sounds of the old No Limit records albums. Master P's first major album, Ghetto D, was Allah in my eyes. It represented everything New Orleans and was grimeyyyy. Then came Silk the Shocker, Mystikal, Feind, Big Ed the Assassin, Mr. Servon, Mia X, etc... The list could go on.
Then came the Cash Money records movement. For me, it started with Big Tymers first big release.. How You Luv That Vol. 2! Then Juvenile's 400 Degreez, Lil Wayne's Tha Block is Hot, B.G.'s Chpper City, etc... These albums were like groundbreaking to me. And all these cats were in my backyard at the time!
Just curious, what everyone else's main listens were when they were young. I still have some of these old CD's and will buy them if I find good copy's in good condition.
