in that situation you're pretty much boned and have to sell your shit, that's how I got my property so cheap. your mortgage company will still pay while you're in prison though.
I happened to be in the situation where the owner of this property was going away for a long time and needed money for legal shit so he took what I offered him.
if I go away for a few months/years I got enough in escrow to keep my shit paid.
