street gutters flood with the ebb and flow of a red sludge
peak through the gap in the blinds to watch the walking dead trudge
the soil below beckons forth the blood of the rich
pursuits of happiness put on hold for ones that exist
the news showcases the falling of countless other nations
feral people and animals outside seem to denounce domestication
they’re raping and pillaging the villages, they’re taking our homes
the shattering of glass contrasts beautifully with the breaking of bone
corpses ornament the concrete, badges of martyrdom
fresh decay crawls into nostrils, courtesy of the august sun
senses bathe in the death, tongue tinged with a craving of flesh
ain’t no savior afoot, the gods look down with a shake of their heads
it’s survival of the fittest, be quick study’s of Darwinism
eat or be eaten the world has become the yard of a prison
the plagues have come to devour humanity and its accursed name
…..we, collectively, are all deserving of the worm rain
