Numbskull
I'm a blank slate... In this state I'd feel embarrassed if I ever smiled
Emotions give you away like my real parents when I was a child
My foster mom brought me to carnivals to apply her trade
Where clowns wore paint like war paint - My favorite was the high striker game
The harder the hit the better the pay; It was an event to die for
I swung that sledgehammer with all my might just to get the high score
And a stuffed animal I adored... Dad left me starin' at the door
Never had the stones to stack up next him... I'm just not cairn anymore...
Long story short, with a poker face I loosen mom's blindfold
Who's on the tile floor - These days I'm not doing as I'm told
Gaze at her poodle dead and cold; Sorry mom I'm going through withdrawals
I thought, 'It takes a quarter ton of pressure to crush the human skull...'
Raised a sledgehammer above her body, never fearing what hell brings
Yet as I propelled the hammer down I didn't hear any bells ring
No prize had been won... I'll take fake anything over a real nothing
Inside emotions are building up...
I almost think I feel something...
Lovely.
