How do we handle people who are pushing known lies and misinformation?

There is a societal cost to that personal stupidity. Yeah, I get the angle of not being able to trust any gov't participation in regulating speech because it could easily be made into a political weapon. But people are using lies as political weapons now and there are people dying every day because of it.

I don't think censoring speech is ever the answer. But if we don't find a way to call out the lies our society is going to devour itself from the inside out (while our international adversaries laugh and cheer it on).
