Reds...
Any Cab from Napa Valley is gonna be solid. Phantom is a really good, fairly cheap one. $15 give or take. Prime makes amazing Cabs that are moderately priced (say, $50-75). Happy to recommend some really high end ones, but it depends on your price point.
The red blends from Bordeaux are the traditionally best reds. It’s hard to name a specific brand, because they’re all pretty much the same... just decide what your budget is and pick one.
Whites...
It depends if you like sweet or sour. Chardonnay used to be the go to, but these days it’s more about dry sour wines like Sauvignon Blancs or Rieslings. Personally, I think New Zealand makes the best Sauvignon Blancs (and you can get them for almost nothing). But a lot of people would say Sancerre is the best.
As above, just pick a random Sancerre if you want a French wine. If you want a solid New Zealand one, anything from Marlborough is going to be good. Huia is a solid one. Ottos Constant Dream is too. Oyster Bay is a standard cheap brand.
Good luck. Cheers.
