Amen's medical diagnosis of "chest cold" confirmed
If you've been paying attention to the numbers, we're still early in this. Sharp posted 2 days ago we had 85,000 confirmed cases. 2 days later we've got about 140,000 confirmed. That's a 64% increase in 2 days, and the numbers are only jumping higher.
To be fair, some of those numbers are due to increased testing, but about 15-20 percent of people who get it will need medical attention of some kind that goes beyond just "stay your ass at home and wait for it to go away". That takes up a lot of hospital resources. Sure, the fatality rate is about 3% if they have proper medical treatment and ventilators and people are pulling out all the stops, but it will get higher once there aren't enough supplies or staff to tend to everyone. People who go in for other emergencies that are completely unrelated to covid-19 are going have a hard time getting medical treatment. You're also crowding the hospitals, which means a lot of sick people who may not even have covid can catch it. It's a shit show just waiting to happen.
