Zenaida's Complaints
I didn't last quite five months
Married to Zenobia
'Cause I saw he wasn't true
To the promises he made when
courting me.
That man Zenobia and mv
parents agreed, ยท
And after they gave my hand
in marriage
He carried me off to the State
of Texas.
And my parents never heard from
me again.
We left on the passenger train,
Going as fast as the devil.
The next night we arri ved
At his home in San An tonio.
Twent y days flew quickly by.
That' s only how long he was true'
Then he turned out to be
a drunkard,
A gambler, a no-good loafer.
" I thought you were a working
man," I told him,
"And that 's how you made
your money."
"Let the slobs work," he told me,
" 'Cause for sure I' m not one
of !hose."
He wound up in jail all the time.
I'd even take food to him there,
Then one day I saw him
holding hands
And talking with some girlfriend.
Angrily I said to Zenobia,
"You're going much too far.
"You reject me for
worthless women,
"And I've been a good wife
to you."
. '
-~
I went to my house right away
And sent a letter to my parents:
"Please send for me
Because I want to return home."
Crying, I told my parents,
And described my cruel hardships;
When Zenobia arrived drunk
Letting out a stream of nonsense.
I 'm getting out of this rotten town;
Leaving behind my hopes
and dreams.
Zenaida is on her way home,
Back to her loving parents.

LCUAL DE LOS DOS AMANTES SUFRE DE Which of the two lovers suffers
MAS PENAS, the most?
EL QUE SE VA O EL QUE SE QUEDA? The one who leaves, or the one
EL QUE SE VA, SE VA SUSPIRANDO
EL QU E SE QUEDA, SE
QUEDA LLORANDO.

The one who leaves, leaves sighing.
The one who stays is left crying.
