I highly recommend Ireland but I am biased. It is exceptionally beautiful in many places, the west coast (specifically Galway) has some of the most breathtaking scenery you are ever likely to see.
Scotland is great too though, Edinburgh is a wonderful city, you can feel the history running through it. As Eng alluded to, Glasgow is a cesspit, avoid at all costs.
