I wouldn't go to Egypt quite yet, at least not as a first place to go outside the US. Still a lot tension and even when we were there 10 years ago before shit hit the fan we were adviced by locals to not even joke about being from the US and keep our passports close.
That said tho, if you stay close to anything touristy and don't walk too far away from those places there shouldn't be any surprises. Lovely country, messed up political tension that may or may not get worse while you're there.
Nordic countries are safe af but expensive as shit tho, but prone to open my house if you need a place to stay close to Oslo, Norway. Eastern european countries can be tons of fun, just do your homework on local ethics etc. first (kinda goes for wherever you're traveling to).
Spain, Germany, Italy and Netherland are awesome and pretty safe. Asia is dope af from what I've heard (food, people, places/monuments) just do your homework on certain places/countries to avoid. Heard great things about Japan and China.
