i barely listen to music at all anymore. but i feel where you are coming from.

i honestly think the main shift in hip hop is the methods of distribution. not even talking the newer shit cuz there was always trash being made, whether it was mumble rap or laffy taffy etc. but i think i gravitate to the older shit because it was actually made to be consumed at length. this dude if everything goes right we ain't gonna hear from again for AT LEAST a year, more likely 2-3 years till his next ALBUM.

but word its so single driven, and just get the new shit out that the content suffers. its why when i do check music now i might only keep 1-2 songs off a 20 song "project". where as i probably wouldve kept 10 if it came out in 02. because they wouldve took more time.

i mean a rapper nowadays can release like 4-5 tapes a year. and maybe an album. where it used to just be the album. and then maybe a tape of leftovers. but the album got the best tracks they recorded that year. and then the subsequent tape got the next best shit, so even the tape had shit that didn't make the cut

now its whatever. oh i got a beat from a producer with somewhat of a name? write some bullshit put it out. oh you see so and so did a track with so and so. oh this is cool. forgotten a week later.
