I've spent 60 days in inpatient rehab for Alcohol treatment. I had 2 years completely clean after I was discharged. I was going to meetings, got a sponsor, eventually got a better job and went back to school. I did conventions, alumni trips, I've spoke on panels, I've fucked newcomers and made them relapse, I've worked some steps with a sponsor.

The religious undertones in AA are because of how old the program is. Now days I doubt anyone will push their 'god' on you. They will encourage u to find ur own 'higher power'. I don't know man... I KNEW I couldn't stop by myself (weak mind), so I sought help before I killed myself.

Anyways, I think treatment can be a good jump off point to a new way of life that doesn't involve 12 beers on a Wednesday morning. If alcohol is making your life unmanageable, u might be an alcoholic, if you've tried to stop, but can't...You might want to seek outside help.
