Freedom of information and expression is wild. There has been a swell of social consciousness revolution from the 1960s on. Look where we are now. Everyone has their platform. Their opinion is capable of going viral any minute. Millions of fans turned quasi professional critics. Sensationalism gets the clicks. Clicks get the attention. When newspapers had a monopoly on public opinion there was always a ?healthy? distrust. Nightly news posed the same question. Now every major city has it's own news outlet, albeit controlled by a larger corporate agenda. Hip Hop is a microcosm of this. The Source used to control what was 'dope'. XXL. Certain websites. Now things are scattered as fuck. There's a sprawl of 'valid' opinions. The road to credibility went from a journey of self discovery and paying dues, to a sensational comment away. Less is earned in the realm of opinion. Those without credibility, but a desire to be heard, will discredit those with time put in so that they seem equal. We're in this constant battle for credibility. Promoting our image. Not because we want to, necessarily, but because that's the reality of our current social climate.
