Sometimes I wonder if it would be worth moving away from California to pay less than a grand a month for a house.

My rent is $2600/month for a 2 br - 2 bath, 1130 sq ft. And I was fucking shocked when I saw how cheap it was. It's a nice apartment, too. Everything that was comparable to this one when I moved in was upwards of $3200/month. So yeah, it's all relative.

I got very excited when I broke six figures until I read that like $110k a year is still considered low income here.

I had a friend visiting from Washington state a few weeks ago. We drove by a small house. 2br/1bath. 900 sq. ft. I was like "How much do you think that house costs?" My friend, seeming to understand that it would be higher than he thinks, said "Um, like 600k?" Then I pulled up the address on redfin. 1.5million. Yay San Jose!
