if we are all agreeing that his slavery comment was to have been an analogy for black peoples present economic hardship........then he was saying that their distinct disadvantages are irrelevant when placed against determination and sheer will.
theres a lot of implications in that mentality that are just wrong. obviously there are people in that demographic doing everything they possibly can with their means and are still unable to overcome the economic disparity they are dealt.
hes implying that those people don't exist.....and I personally find that really fucking hard to believe.
