Oh, when I lived in Utah for a couple years I felt the same way. And no, there's no specific cultural preference at play here, because the population won't produce the right culture. Sure, there may be droves of trailer park trash around him that may smoke and listen to rap music, but those neighborhoods are mostly meth heads and punk rockers. That's the culture that is mostly associated with that population. Stereotypical or not, living in the hood has a certain effect on you. I'm literally ten blocks west of where I lived and it's different. Functionality wise it's true as well. Cigarette prices are different. There's not a 5 dollar Chinese buffet behind my house. The liquor store doesn't have the cheap whiskey I'll drink. I'm also much less sociable. Too many times living in the hood, my homies will just roll up on you. "My momma house 2 doors down, figured I'd stop in and smoke this with you." Shit... Playing beats loud as fuck till 5 am without the cops getting called.
Smoking blunts on your front fucking porch.
