Yep, know this feeling all too well.

I've experienced it maybe 3 times in my life, but it's surreal. Can't move a muscle, speak, or do anything. Your eyes can move around the room, but that's about it. After a minute or two (which feels like an eternity) your body starts to come to, and you get a hold of all of your functions again. Can't speak for everyone that has had it, but for me personally it always happens when I fall asleep on my back. I go to sleep on my side now and haven't had it, since. Never experienced a sleep paralysis-hallucination thing though, however do have sleep apnea , too.

The only experience I've had with hallucinations around sleeping was when I was on my bed with my back towards my TV, I left it on. I was half asleep and the TV projects a light over my wall, but as I stared at the wall it started to turn black, even though I still see the TV's light on behind me. Went back to normal after blinking a few times.
