This is why I normally try to stay away from religious topics!

Gospel Truth

Casually, a boastful pride when vocalised to loud expression
Is blasphemy – that was the sin that banished Satan out of heaven
The angel formerly known as the first Prince of the Grigori
A squinted twisting of His story, stripping it of all its glory
With a jealousy that recklessly became a violent temper
With a coat of every colour, all alight with brightest splendour
Lit up with the lights of heaven, his was the star of the morning
Tinged with spiteful venom, now his was the darkness of mourning
Singed by his sleight; a deceptive speech infecting the breeze
“See, we can all be as god – yes, all of us… especially me!”
But the pride of the created when elevated to its Creator
Steals a glory not to be shared with an ungrateful imitator
So cast down and cast out, with gnashing teeth and idle chat
His coloured coat he painted blood red, but blood dries to black
Having no wish for a pardon, with his tricks for a bargain
“Yes you can be as god too!” was what he whispered in the garden
And Eve, she listened, and Adam listened, an apple glistened
A snap decision, apple bitten, as neither needed practice sinning
Too cast down and cast out, with burnt and burdened fallen natures
Fraught and autumn faces so solemnly sought a slaughtered Saviour
… And here’s the clash:
A devil’s pride evoking stoked hostility
A God despised, denied when born adorned in cloaked humility
The devil, whose life was death, and Christ, whose death was life
For select tribes, who had been swept aside by sin’s infected tide
But never left to die, redeemed and plucked like precious stones
Out of a blazing flame – but now a waiting game, a second home
Within a world that’s gripped by Satan’s filthy, fiery tentacles
Bewitched by words of pride, of murder, lies, desire and sensual
If God has won, if Christ’s the Victor, why is evil’s vice-like clips
Ever closing on this world, and tightening its violent grip?
Why does God say nothing while the devil bares his sharpened teeth
If Christ wears the Victor’s crown, the battle won at Calvary?
But the silence is the voice of God, and should be seen as such
Not sweetness touched
But judgement paused, not thunder's roar, a grievous hush
What mystery! We wish to see the battles of the heavenly hosts
But now as God’s forbearance fades - its ending is endlessly close
