These days, the lyricism-heavy types are much heavier on rhyme schemes and much less so on unique phrasing and punchlines, etc. Examples: Earl Sweatshirt (and most of Odd Future), Jay Electronica, Royce the 5'9", new Black Thought (compare him now to him in the 1990s), Vic Mensa, Ransom, etc.
That's not to say there aren't old-school stylists around. Mick Jenkins is a great lyricist who doesn't lean on rhyming only.
